Although this feature looks like a hill casting a shadow of a pyramid, according to the elevation tool which depicts the moon’s contours, the high point of the hill is in shadow. Is there a defect in the elevation tool?
The sunlight hitting the face of the hill and downward slope are not in alignment.
Something seems very peculiar about the shape and direction of the shadow.
Based on the shape and contours indicated by the elevation tool, the shadows are not in the right place.
